Farewell to The MadCowGirl

About 22 years ago, MadCowGirl was born.

It all started in the early days of the interwebs, in a deep, dark corner of the world wide web, at the website moocow.com. In a Lisa Simpson-esque declaration of identity, she declared to the world, "I am the MadCowGirl."

Her name derived from the amusement of the Mad Cow Disease that plagued the UK prior to her 1995 visit, it was always intended to be more, MadCow-Girl than Mad-CowGirl, but it was this kind of ambiguity and openness to interpretation that embodied her.

The MadCowGirl married young, starting a family in her early 20s, bought a house, studied to be a primary school teacher. It was during these studies that she and her husband made the difficult decision to separate. In true MadCowGirl style, she threw herself into her newfound role of a single parent but struggled with the times that her children spent with their father.

In an attempt to fill this void, the MadCowGirl joined a Newcastle based photographic club and started attending gatherings held by this group. Being surrounded by generous and knowledgeable photographers, the MadCowGirl flourished. In particular, her connection with Nammo (http://www.opticaldelusion.com.au/) has been a bond for life. The two sharing many a photographic outing, bevvy and cake, much laughter and some tears. Nammo has been an immeasurable positive influence on the personal and photographic growth of the MadCowGirl.

In her lifetime, there has been a MadCowGirl website, a "Learning how to be Moo" blog, a facebook page, flickr and instagram account. She has lived, made plenty of mistakes, fallen, and picked herself back up again. Throughout all of this, she has maintained her sense of humour and complete love of photography, pizza and cake.

And so it is with so many fond memories, but with a clear vision of the future, the time has come for MadCowGirl Images to be laid to rest.

Not to be concerned or alarmed, she is not dead, merely undergoing a metamorphosis. In an attempt to better reflect who she now is, and where she is heading, MadCowGirl Images will become Harrigan Creative.

Harrigan Creative will be visiting local live music venues to capture the excitement of musicians in their natural environment, of local wrestlers putting their bodies on the line for the entertainment of the masses, and will continue to travel as much as possible to capture the beauty that is the world around us.

The Facebook handle has already changed, so head to www.facebook.com/HarriganCreative to follow the journey. I have been experiencing some issues with Facebook, as they do not see any connection between MadCowGirl Images and Harrigan Creative. I optimistically live in the hope that this blog post will serve as the requisite "Media Release" announcing the rebranding. Now as much as I adore my creative endeavours, and am super pumped for the name change, I do not believe any of them to be worthy of a media release. But do feel free to send NBN News around for an exclusive ;)

But just if there were any doubts about the continuity of the content of Harrigan Creative, here is a sample of some images from MadCowGirl Images taken in January 2017:

And here are the most recent images (taken by the same person - me), taken in February 2018 and watermarked as Harrigan Creative:

Same old Moo - brand new start - Harrigan Creative
